Menopause, the change of life.

Australasian Menopause Society explains that menopause is often referred to as  'the change of life' as it marks the end of a woman's reproductive life. With these changes, menopause also causes changes in the feet.


Most women become menopausal naturally between the ages of 45 and 55 years, with the average age of onset at around 51 years. Women tend to live around one third of their lives after menopause, optimising physical and mental health during this period is becoming more important. Our play a big role in keeping us healthy and active so taking care of them is imperative.


Menopause related changes can lead to increased risk of:

  • Osteopenia and osteoporosis 
  • Knee osteoarthritis 
  • Gout 
  • Skin related changes
  • Collagen loss related changes 
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Cardiovascular health conditions


In particular, your foot symptoms might look like any of the following:
